The Grief You Don't Think You're Allowed to Feel

Who gets to decide what counts as a loss worth grieving?

There's an invisible rulebook out there. Nobody wrote it down, but somehow everyone knows it. A best friend who's still alive and just isn't in your life anymore doesn't make the list. Someone you didn't know well enough doesn't make the list either.

In this episode I tell two stories that broke those rules for me. A childhood best friendship that faded in a way that left a real grief behind. And a man I knew only through someone else's family, who always had a smile and called me Bronx, and whose loss hit me harder than I felt I had the right to let it.

Grief doesn't check anyone's credentials before it shows up. Whatever you're carrying, however small you've been told it should feel, you're allowed to feel it as big as it actually is.

If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.
