Episode 8

Sudden Loss, When There's No Time to Prepare

Every other episode this season has been my story. This one is different.

This episode is about a close friend of mine and what happened to her family. I'm not going to share details that would identify her. But what I watched her go through, and what it did to me, and what I learned from her, changed me.

Sudden loss is like a strike of lightning on a clear day. No lead up. No chance to brace. No time to say the thing you would have said if you'd known. And the grief doesn't stay contained to the people closest to it. It ripples. And sometimes those ripples hit you when you least expect them, months later, in a completely different place.

This one is for anyone who has lost someone suddenly. For the people closest to that loss, and for the ones a little further out who felt it just as deeply and weren't sure they were allowed to.

If you found this, it was for a reason. I'm here. And I've got you.
